Professionals
with expertise vital to the operation of our organization, our Advisory
Board acts as informal advisors to SHARED and our Board of Directors.
By providing important opinions and helpful information in their
areas of skill and experience, our Advisory Board contributes to
our continuing success.
Donna
Barry
Donna
Barry is currently the Advocacy and Policy Director at Partners
In Health as well as a Nurse Practitioner who provides support
to all PIH's reproductive health programs. She is guiding PIH's
advocacy and policy efforts related to health and hunger, socio-economic
development in Haiti, increasing the pool of funding for global
health and the health care worker shortage. Her combination of clinical
and policy skills will help SHARED develop and implement programs
that deliver maximum impact for the people it serves.
Karen
Barzilay
Karen
Barzilay, head of Barzilay Communications, has worked in the field
of strategic marketing communications and public relations for more
than 17 years. In addition to spearheading product launches, corporate
communications programs, media relations, and special events for
pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology and managed care companies,
Karen has directed more than 200 patient awareness campaigns for
clinical trials in a variety of therapeutic categories. Karen and
her colleague, Kathleen Van Gorden, were instrumental in the media
coverage SHARED garnered from “An Evening with Archbishop Desmond
Tutu”. Karen continues to advise the organization in public relations
and media matters.
Jennifer
Kirby
Jennifer
Kirby, Vice President of Development for Link
TV , is responsible for Link's
fundraising strategy and operations encompassing revenue from foundations
and individuals. Jennifer has 20 years of combined experience in
the areas of for-profit and non-profit marketing, fundraising and
media production. Jennifer has directly generated tens of millions
of dollars in donations, most recently as the director of marketing
and fundraising for Helen Keller International. Jennifer lends her
expertise to SHARED to improve marketing message and materials to
increase fund raising efforts.
John
Kozelian
John
Kozelian is a management consultant focused on financial planning.
In addition to his finance background, John is a member of the Armenian
folk group, Arev,
playing the oud. John's business and music connections have supported
SHARED's Building a Healthy Armenia project which continues to grow.
Linda
Powers
Linda
Powers is a medical doctor who is on staff in the department of
Internal Medicine at Mount
Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition to
her medical degree, Linda received a Masters in Public Health from
the Boston University School of Public Health integrating her clinical
experience with a desire to work with the poor. Linda conducted
the clinical research behind the current SHARED project with the
Samariter
Hospital in Gyumri, Armenia. Dr. Powers will continue to provide
clinical expertise to the programs that SHARED undertakes in Armenia.
Greg
Robertson
Led
by Principal and Creative Director, Greg Robertson,
PowerFlite
Communications is a team of highly-experienced marketing and
advertising people who provide clients with strategically-grounded,
concept-based creative that instigates a real world reaction.
Greg is highly experienced in developing large national brands,
small local companies, and organizations of every size in-between.
He can provide clients with every element of the marketing mission,
from research and planning through creative, production, and media.
Greg has consistently donated his creative energy and professional
designs to many of SHARED's project which we hope to continue long
into the future.
Kevin
Saunders
Kevin
began working as a Staff Attorney for ACCION
International in August 2007 after graduating from Boston University
School of Law. During law school, Kevin clerked in the Offices
of the General Counsel of the Arkansas Department of Human Services,
Partners In Health, and Boston University, as well as at the law
firm of Friday, Eldridge & Clark. He also interned with
the International Consortium for Law and Development and volunteered
for Shelter Legal Services. Prior to law school, Kevin taught English
and German at a Jonesboro High School, Arkansas State University,
and Lyon College. Kevin's experience in law as well as the
nonprofit sector helps SHARED through the complex maze that is part
of the not-for-profit world.
Diane
Spinale
As
an experienced grant writer, Diane is lending her skills to SHARED
to develop grant proposals for the Armenia project. Diane works
for the Community Action Programs Inter-City in Chelsea, Massachusetts
preparing and supervising grants administration as well as other
marketing and managerial duties. Diane is committed to helping SHARED
secure major grant funding and helping us to grow to serve more
people in developing countries.
Jason
Summerfield
SHARED's
web site has been designed and developed by Jason Summerfield of
Human
Service Solutions , a business that provides web development
and consulting services for health, human service, and nonprofit
organizations of all types. Jason is an invaluable source of information
about all things related to the internet and ways that SHARED can
leverage the effectiveness of communicating via the web.
Stewart
Ting Chong
Stewart
hails from South Africa and has been living in the US since 1999.
He started his professional career as a financial accountant with
Firestone South Africa but later pursued his interest in IT. Stewart,
a Program Manager with a Financial Services company, was instrumental
in securing Archbishop Desmond Tutu for our 2007 gala event drawing
on his relationship with the Archbishop during his days of the
liberation struggle against apartheid
in South Africa. Stewart continues to be involved in human rights
organizations and Boston-based organizations promoting capacity
building and health and education needs in South Africa.
