Flowers4Food
Spring
magic took place when flowers turned into food!
A
group of graduate students at the Boston
University School of Public Health (BUSPH) created the Flowers4Food
project to raise money for a community garden to feed
AIDS orphans in Lesotho as part of SHARED's
“Seeds
of Change” program.

From
March 18th through April 3rd , faculty, staff, students, and visitors
to the Boston Medical Center purchased
spring plants with the pro-seeds going towards a community
garden in Lesotho. The sutdents, Emily Bearse, Sarah Hurlburt, Colleen
Longacre, Kristine Morin, and Shaheja Sitafalwalla, raised almost
$1,000.00 as part of a project for BUSPH
Professor Taryn Vian's course, “Financial Management for International
Health”. The students created and implemented the Flowers4Food
project for SHARED.
A special "Thank You" goes to a local flower wholesale
business, Quilan Wasserman,
for providing plants for the students to sell.
We
are in the process of finding a suitable community garden project
to receive the pro-seeds from the Flowers4Food project as well as
other fund raising efforts in support of our "Seeds of Change"
program funding community gardens in Lesotho.
Plesae
continue to make some magic by donating
to the “Seeds
of Change” program to show your support for students'
efforts. Click here for our
