Win the "Running Club
Challenge"
THE
challenge is
the race to save lives. When you save a life, everyone's a winner.
SHARED
has issued a challenge to more than 200 running clubs in eight states
to accept this challenge and earn the bragging rights to saving
the most lives, more than the other running clubs. Nothing
like a little good old-fashioned competition.
For
the first time in Boston Marathon history, this year an athlete
from Lesotho will run the 26.2 miles to represent his country and
our nonprofit organization. Motlokoa Clement Nkhabutlane (Clement)
will be in Boston to compete and to help SHARED raise money for
medicines, medical supplies and equipment for the 400,000+ orphans
of his small home nation.
Runners
uniquely appreciate the challenges that Clement faces coming from
poverty and obscurity. He is a serious runner, but because the country
is poor, there is no financial support for him to compete in qualifying
races. He runs because he loves it, and because he loves it – he
has been successful, winning the 2008 Cape Town marathon in 2:13:00
(at altitude). And he is coming to Boston because he wants to help
his country.
Your
running club can help too. And win bragging rights. Here's how.
Raise
more money than the other clubs. Organize the most creative fund
raising event. Involve the most number of people. The three running
clubs that achieve one of these three goals by April 16, 2012 will
be celebrated in our press releases, media and post-race announcements
for their competitive and compassionate spirit. Plus prizes will
be awarded to the winners.
